The Open Door Project is conducted in Equus, which is the silent language of the horse. The students do the activities in silent, Equus, in order to communicate with the horse in their language; body language, intention, and thinking in pictures. Asking these students to participate silently does not stifle communication but promotes finding different strategies in order to communicate. This teaches the students that there are multiple ways to communicate a message.
